ZF Gear

Post by Capn Tony »

Starting offf the season on a bad note. First fishing trip of the year and blew a tranny on the way back. Going to start pulling it today hopefully it won’t that much of a bear to get out. It’s stuck in forward there is no neutral and in reverse it stalls the engine. Thinking of just buying a new one rather than a build. Any ideas are welcomed!!!

I've heard of a place that I think is up close to Amesbury that rebuilds them but don't know any details. Can't comment on new vs rebuild other than everyone seems to have them rebuilt and are trouble free after... Captain Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

Tony, From what I understand it's a pretty simple rebuild and a new one is about $5000. Atlantic Gear in Ipswich rebuilds gears, not sure if they do ZF's , worth a call.
