Losing starboard ignition / electronics power

Post by h2ojetga »

Hello everyone We are experiencing an intermittent loss of starboard ignition power and electronics power (simultaneously) originally in rougher seas but recently just cruising in the ICW. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Just trying to think what the common denominator would be. I'm sure it's a loose connection somewhere but we can't replicate the issue buy poking around. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi David, What model do you have? What engines? Do you have a lower helm? Without the info you're just going to get generic answers. The 1st thing I would do is remove all the cables from the batteries & dip them in a baking soda solution. With the cables disconnected use a multi-meter to take an accurate voltage reading on them. Reconnect & take a multimeter reading at the helm. If you have the wiring specs You can meter at the connection points. If you have an infrared gun you can look for hot spots at those points denoting a loose or corrodes connection. Good Luck Al
