I am still using Boat USless. It was $3600 for 2007. Mine is always due in Oct. So I got whacked again after Wilma. Can't wait to see it for 2008 even if we have no storms for 2 yrs straight. I can't afford to insure the boat for the true value. With new everything, I'd have to bump it up over $100K. I'll probably just insure it for the expense of the repower plus some cosmetic type of damage from hurricanes. BTW a friend of mine is now insuring with a British Co. in UK. I put the name in one of my posts under Insurance and Other Blood sucking Scumbags section. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. "Nauti Marie" 1989 33 FBC

Marrisa, Welcome aboard to the finest group of Bertram owners you could wish to meet, (ever those yankee boys [;)]). Y'all aren't that far from us and Yankee Town on the Withlacoochee is a really nice area. With the water going form salt to fresh will help clean your raw water system of the salt too. You will love the FBC, for either fishing or cursing. Enjoy and look forward to seeing you on the water. Tightlines, Ed

If the fishing is poor, then you start cursing. Al

Thanks guys for the very warm welcome you have all given me. We are fishing junkies. If anyone would like a good 2004 Fisher Bass Prohawk let me know [;)] Capt Ed, We ended up at the Port Hudson Marina instead of Yankeetown. The water is better there. 1 foot per mile drop is a lot more boat gas than auto gas. [;)] Marissa DeWitt Ocala, FL

I think by the time we get this boat from the east coast to the west coast of Fl. We will have done some cruising. I have been informed that there are fish to catch along the way... "you know we have to eat" was the exact line, I think. lol It is looking sadly, like the water level in the "ditch" is not going to be high enough for us to cross at Lake Okeechobee. Long boat ride around the keys. Woot Capt Ed! Always good to meet new people. I hope we are there soon. We are waiting on this person, and waiting on that person at the moment. The whole affair is maddening, since it's all beyond our control. Good news today though, we found a guy who can survey the boat tomorrow, so at least we can get some solid insurance quotes. The seller has all the sanding done, and is ready to prime tomorrow. A guy at the marina has time in the morning to install John's digital transducer! So things are looking up. Yesterday, I was ready to say; f*#@ that boat.[:)] Marissa DeWitt Ocala, FL

Marissa, If you guys need to bring your boat down South and go around the long way. Give me shout, you have to drive by us. BTW, I pass Ocala frequently going back and forth to UF. And..I have a new chart plotter already. I was contemplating blue leds next Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. "Nauti Marie" 1989 33 FBC

Greetings, This is Rissa's hubby.[:)] I have mixed emotions about the trip going around the keys and back up vrs straight across the lake. The keys will be a long ride but OMG the fishing.....I'll troll the whole way from West Palm to Islamorada. Surely I'll get a few hookups. [:D] Think my fuel burn will improve by just trolling the whole way?

Welcome John, The ditch would sure save you a ton of gas money but I also heard it was pretty low.Worth making some phone calls.Trolling the way down the coast would for sure be more fun and would be my choice.I am in Naples and the city dock is just across the bay from me. Let me know if you make a stop here and we can have a beer. You are also welcome to tie up next to The Photo Finish .

Hey George, I saw your boat in the lake Sunday when we went out to see if we could get hit by lightening. Managed to dodge the storms and came in about 1:30. No George. I was going to give the wife the sales pitch on the bow pulpit. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. "Nauti Marie" 1989 33 FBC

Gene we saw you go by and though we might see you on the way back but decided to leave after cleaning the hull and cooking lunch. We should be at the lake either Sunday, Monday or both. Maybe we can hook up. We were out yesterday but didn't stop at the lake. George Skillas 33 FBC Destiny - 1983 Deerfield Beach, Florida [img]
