Fuel watch
I would like to see a thread on the ever changing fuel prices and to see how much people throughout the country and even in other countries in what they are paying. Also i would like to know where and when you are forced to buy fuel with ethanol. I just paid $3.25 for gas at a marina in Naples, Fl (the marina had no idea if or when they were ever going to have ethanol)

Tim, $3.25 sounds pretty cheap for a Marina. I paid $3.26 a month ago here on the East Coast. Went to the Air & Sea (sic) Show in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday. What a perfect day! Left early, and did a dive on the way, caught 15 Dolphin, & 1 Wahoo. Anchored about 1/2 mile off the beach and watched the whole show. Blue Angels always give me goosebumps. They did some of their passes right over the boat upside down and it looked like they would take off the outriggers. I just called the fuel truck, and asked about the ethanol. Guy said he didn't have a clue when they would see it at Port Everglades. Not today anyway. I'm worried about his lack of concern, but they only buy enough fuel to satisfy what they are commited to pump for the day. So I'm not worried about them mixing it. I need to quiz them on their filter system on the truck though. Another question for you gassers. I've been using the Merc spin-on filters. Rarely have a problem with water. But I'm thinking of changing to the Racor conversion, spin on with the metal drain bowl in the bottom. I think the Racor may be a better & finer filter. Plus you can drain it and look at what comes out. Anybody else doing that? Gene Dugan

Tim, It was great day! They have been getting Dolphin out in 200-300 ft. all week. It tailed off toward the end of the week some. There were a lot of big Bulls in the 35 lb range being caught. We found a 'dresser' floating and cleaned up on some good size schoolies, some about 15 lbs. I used the racors on my old boat. I still have them in a box for spares. I'll have to start using them again , I guess. Most of the fuel guys over here switched to only diesel. The one I use still pumps gas 1 or 2 days a week. They do some of the U-Gas stations around too, so I catch them on the way by. Diesel was $2.51 off the truck last week. Don't know what the gas bill will be yet. Gene Dugan

The fuel dock I went by on Friday was 2.99, the only reason it's at that price is because they are selling it "cheap" so they can be somewhat empty when the cornhole gas shows up. Bill 33 FBC Ipswich, Ma.

Lets all keep our fingers crossed and hope that's all we'll have to change.
