repost on tank install
On the old B33 FBC, there is a plywood module that extends all the way across between the two outside stringers. Stb side has the AC mounted on it. Port side has the water heater. In the center was a closed in box that held the poly water tank. The entire module was built outside of the boat. At all the intersections there were 1x2 inch mahogany strips. They were secured to the ply with stainless nails from one side & silicon bronze screws from the other side. Only way to take apart was with a sawsall. This 1st pic shows the center cleaned out with new cross supports glassed in. The front two are about 2 inches lower than the rear two that go stringer to stringer. I had to get as low in the hull as possible to fit in a 32 gal holding tank (Ronco plastics B127) under the steps. The water tank was 37 inches wide (Ronco B324 65 gal tank) so it had to go higher out of the hull vee. The new pump is mounted on a fabricated shelf with the domestic water pump underneath. Still have to clean up the water lines & do the wiring. Beneath the heater you can see the remnants of the framing for the old ply module. That space is where the heater used to be. Output of the T12 pump will go to a vented loop up in the left fwd corner. The input side will be from a Wye valve. One valve input will be from a top mounted standpipe in the holding tank. The other valve input will go down to the bilge. In the old B33 model, ALL bilge water collects under where the tanks will sit. As the boat came from the factory there was no way to pump this water out. The only bilge pump was fwd of the steps outside of the head. Ready to put down the ¾ plywood deck. (Original was ½) Many of you are not aware that on the old models the toilet is mounted against the fwd bulkhead adjoining vee berth. There is no hanging closet there. I have a Raritan Crown head that exits out that fwd bulkhead under the port vee berth drawers. I came out of the head with hose. That connects into a 45 pvc fitting & then into a sanitary pvc wye with a cleanout. That runs aft under the head thru the hole you see cut out below. The waste tank is 16 high & the water tank is 30 high. Here is looking fwd at the installed tank. The middle was left open so I can add the stick on sensors for a tank monitor system. Plus the ply was what I recycled from the original. In the corners, you can see the mahogany strips that Bert used. Al
