Holding tank

Post by Bishop »

[blue]The saga of the 1977 33' FBC continues...I made an offer and am patiently waiting to see if it was accepted. I was just curious where the holding tank was located? The surveryor contends there is no holding tank. I disagreed, but was unable to locate it. Thanks again.

You may have an old lectrosan & thus no holding tank. If it is the original lectrosan, a new one is about $800. My 1978 is set up that way. I've racked my brains trying to figure out a way to fit a tank in as so many places are going no discharge. Al

Thank you for the response. Is it safe to assume that if I have a deck pump out fitting on the starboard gunwale, that there ought to be a holding tank?

It sounds like a reasonable assumption. Al

Those old lectrosans had a small holding tank. Mine still worked; but it stank. I replaced all the old black rubber hoses with the new white stuff. Still stank below decks really bad and the stank would work it's way in the salon. I removed the old plastic lectrosan tank and with it went the stank. Maybe this owner beat you to it. Ditch the lectrosan and put in a 20 gallon or so holding tank. You head should have a pump to get the crap to the tank. All you to do get the tank, new hose, a "Y" valve and a new maserator pump to the the crap overboard. Charlie

Bishop... I just installed a holding tank system.. there is more to it than you might first think. Drop me a line if you want to see what I did.. I have a writeup with graphics. You make a mistake with this system you pay dearly for it! Frank B - IRGuy@aol.com "Phoenix" 1983 FBC Wilmington, NC
