Sliding Door Replacement

Post by alano »

Anyone found a reasonable replacement for the sliding doors, got a quote for 6K a year or so back from American (?) down in Fl. After dropping 5k on the tank and another 2 on curtains am not enthused about another large expense. Will try to rebuild them but see things like real big wood screws run in some holes and know the roller wheel module and weather stripping is toast. Thanks, Alan.

Is the 35 door similar to the 33? If you read any of my posts that mention the door (which is a POS) in my opinion. I finally had enough, and I have a Company called AJR located in B.C. building me a new one as we speak. They build it into a totally new frame. It is Marine grade aluminimum with heavy duty locks , tinted window etc. They will build it to your specs. You can get a Hatteras type hinge door or the slider. Price was $1800 including Shipping and Customs. I met up with them at the Ft. Lauderdale show in Oct. I decided to increase the width of the door slightly to be able to get my engines in and out, because I'm going to repower at the same time. You can get their web site, by typing in AJR dooes I think. Don't have the link handy. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. "Nauti Marie" 1989 33 FBC

Thanks for the info, it's not like the 33, it's 2 doors so a true guillotine [xx(]. I'll give a shout wouldn't mind a single slider or swing if I can reconfigure the bulkhead, 3/4 AB Fir is only $80. Alan.

The AJR brochure has a picture of the double swing doors. Actually they can build the whole bulkhead with the doors in it. I took pictures and did a bunch of measurements. What they ask is what size the hole is. The 33 door has to be 74" from the top to the bottom of the frame & I want the opening 33.5 wide (engines are 33.0 wide)Seeing my carpentry skills are pretty lacking, I'll probably need some help with instalation. I can drive a straight nail & cut a board, but that is about as good as it gets. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. "Nauti Marie" 1989 33 FBC

I have a set of rollers still in the box from High Tide. I think I paid $80 for them. Won't be needing them anymore. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. "Nauti Marie" 1989 33 FBC
