Here's something you don't see for sale very often! Anyone want to convert this for pleasure use? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... Track=true Brian '90 Bertram 33' FBC Never Say Never Guilford, CT (Homeport) Kinnelon, NJ (Home)

love it, like to buy it if you knock off a few hundred thousand.

Wow, my dream boat! I would buy it in a second if I had a few hundred thousand laying around. The 47 was built using all the information they got from the 41 and 44 footers over the years and putting all the best qualities of both into the 47. After spending a lot of time on the 41 footers in the C.G. I have always been partial to them, but this one would do. Ah, the hell you could raise on this boat! Bill 33 FBC Ipswich, Ma. Well you would definetly be the only one around with one of those, with the exception of the coast guard. What a bad ass machine. Fishing might be a problem with it though.

I'd mount a 50 cal. on the bow and fish like a redneck. Bill 33 FBC Ipswich, Ma.

Hey Bill, Last summer I stopped at the Coast Guard Academy in New London in our boat with the kids. (Stopped to visit a Captain friend of my brother and brother-in-law). They have the #1 hull of the 41' there at the docks (#1 hulls have Gold Leaf lettering on transom). They gave us a tour of it and told me they were using it for research. One engine was being run on bio-diesel, the other engine on regular diesel. Some sort of government study, they were going to tear down both engines after 1,000 hours to compare wear and tear. Separately, three years ago I visited my brother in Juneau Alaska, his last station with the CG, and he was able to get us a tour of the 47' rescue boat there. They are an amazing boat on the inside with much of the aluminum hull in view. Brian '90 Bertram 33' FBC Never Say Never Guilford, CT (Homeport) Kinnelon, NJ (Home)

This must be one of the prototypes Textron built for R&D. The actual production models did not go into service till 1997 and are still being built. This could also be a scam given the guys EBAY feedback! Gunny GunnyD Jim Davis Belfast Me

I visited the 47 at Station Gloucester, the guys on duty will almost always accommodate a tour if they have the time. Good thing to do in the winter doldrums. Bill 33 FBC Ipswich, Ma.
