Replacing Windlass Want to Use Same Wiring

My Ideal windlass was torn up by a passing sailboat last storm season and I've just finished building a replacement teak bowsprit. It seems a pity to have to drill new holes for a replacement windlass, but the Ideal was anemic at best. I really don't want to have to run new wiring and would accept a slower retreive if the smaller motor would allow me to reuse the old wiring (which looks pretty massive) 1) Does anyone have any info on the size of wiring supplied to windlass in an 81 SF? 2) Any recommendations on windlass installed to replace Ideal?

Do you have any info as to the electrical load a new windlass would use, (or the old one if you haven't yet found a new one), and how long the wires from the power source to the windlass would be? And, is there any info on the exterior of the existing wire that tells you the size of the wire? Being in the midst of an electrical system renovation I have some books with recommended wire sizes vs load vs length and can let you know what ABYC suggests. Robert, Something to give some consideration would be to have the ideal windlass rebuilt. You can send it to them and have it refurbished like new for much less money than buying a new one. That said, if you still want to replace it, I'd be willing to buy it from you.
