Post by TonyNJ »

Tony, Just the tank ? If so, figure about $2K - $3K. But if repowering.....just pump the tank clean. You can find vendors for this service.

Tony, are you able to use your current shafts, wheels, trans, etc.? I had looked into it and with new 315 Yanmars it was around $60k. But with reman Cummins you could do it for around $45k I have been told. 1979 Bertram 33' FBC ALEXANDRA Port Richey, Florida HAVE YOU SIGNED UP FOR BERTRAM PRIDE '06 yet? Mike, Its still for sale, just considering (reconsidering?) all options. If you know anyone looking I can make them a VERY good deal. Tony

Mine was around $40k, not including the cost of the engines. I did more than was absolutely necessary to the repower. I would estimate that with better planning and paring down the project list would reduce the cost by as much as $20k. You would need to be VERY organized and involved to pull it off for this price range. Since every boat has its own unique set of problems / circumstances, though, it's those unknowns that can really rear up and bite you in the can.

Thanks Fraser, those were the numbers I was looking for. Although not the ones I was hoping for. Tony

Tony... While I haven't had to do a conversion, when I was looking for a 33 I considered doing one if I found a good gasser.. I was warned that it is a much bigger job than I had first expected, and might not be just an engine replacement.. ie: With diesels having more lower speed torque the shaft diameter might have to be increased, meaning possible replacement of the stuffing boxes/packing, shaft logs and struts, along with the props of course.
