Hello ! Thank you for your kind welcome. Even as a newbie I really appreciate the site ! I'm from Rome, Italy. My boat is an '85 convertible, powered by twin crusaders 350hp gas, both totally revised last year. The name of the boat is GOOD TIMES and I'm interested in repowering it with a couple of diesel engines. I read some suggestion in the forum, but I'm still concerned. Someone here in Italy suggested me to consider the Cummins 400hp engines, which could fit easily on the boat .... Any idea. Thank you for your consideration. Gecca... I have only been here at this site for a few months, but I can assure you there is a wealth of information here that is available to you as a fellow Bertram 33 owner! I am sure you will find answers to all your questions here. As far as your question about repowering.. I suspect you will get posts soon from all sides of this subject. There are strings here on Tim's Repower, Gene's Repower and Brian's Repower, plus Syd from Auatralia has a 33 on the US East Coast that is also being repowered, and I suspect there will be more reports from him as that project progresses. I believe Brian's repower with 370 HP diesels is using the largest engines that have been installed.. he just posted a note about his trip home after the project was completed by the yard. My boat has Cummins 6B's, 315 HP and several others have this same or similar engine in various configurations from 300 to 330 HP.. I think for general purposes the diesel power range around 315 HP is sufficient, but to each their own. If you are not already familiar with the site.. I would suggest you go to the forum www.boatdiesel.com.. where you will find a huge amount of information on almost all manufacturer's diesel engines in all types of boats.. many of us go there often. I am sure there will be more posts from others with their comments.. all who have much more experience than I do. Welcome! Frank B - IRGuy@aol.com "Phoenix" 1983 FBC

Gecca, I think the weight of 400hp engines will out weight the benefit of and performance of 315, 330 or 370hp engines. As with the lighter engines you will go as fast with less fuel. Be sure to send a photo of her to David the webmaster to post and if you go into "profile" you can put your information and signature line in too. 1979 Bertram 33' FBC ALEXANDRA Port Richey, Florida HAVE YOU SIGNED UP FOR BERTRAM PRIDE '06 yet? Hello Everyone, I am sad to say that I do not own a Bertram but wish I did. I have been watching this site for the past several weeks and I am truly amazed at the wealth of information available. My current boat is a 2004 Grady White which I just listed with a broker. When it sells I plan to rejoin the Bertram family. I have owned a 31 and a 28 both of which I converted to diesel. Thanks for the great site. Scott Rizer

Ed... I also have a Grady.. which is for sale.. an '85 center console 24' with twin 115 HP Yamahas.. I only have one slip and plan on advertising her in the spring after I spruce her up a bit. I love the boat, but reality has set in and I really don't need two. Frank B - IRGuy@aol.com "Phoenix" 1983 FBC Wilmington, NC

I know what you mean, I have a Sailfish, loaded for fishing, 3k Furuno color fish finder, open-array Furuno Radar, SSB, DCS VHF and Chartplotter and my most important item a coffee maker! I really love it still, but should sell it too, but then I think, what if... the 33 is down for repair... how will I fish?

Thanks Doug and Ed, I really have enjoyed all of my boats but after a little neck operation I want a 24kt cruise and 20,000 lbs under me. So it's time to make a change but I'm not ever going to own more than one over 25' again. It's hard enough to keep one in good shape. Thanks again for everything. Scott Rizer
