Al, I saw that on the 31 site the other day. That guy must've been smoking crack to spend $127K on gas engines on that boat. Don't know what the reserve price is, but if its anything above $100K he'll never get it. Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth

Could you imagine running that thing? If something goes "pop" you got a hell of a mess. I like his statement "run all day at 28 knots" I'm not Joe mechanic or anything, but I would have to bet that the fuel consumption is going to be healthy....never knew water pumps never break???. I have to admit, I'm really lustin over some new titanium shafts @ $6,000 a pop....no wonder the guy is getting seperated.

Guys, I was thinking the same thing, +$125K on gas engines??? Wow, you can go 45-53 knots, who'd want to? I'm pretty sure that that is not what Richard had in mind. [;)] David Sumich Bertram33.com Forum Administrator

Hey guys, I think I saw on the B31 site last spring that the engines were originally built for the Offshore race circuit. I believe a B31 Faithful had posted they were for sale back then. They were subsequently purchased & detuned for reliability. I do know if they spent $6000 just on shafts, they will never get half their money back! Al 1978 33 FBC NITES OFF

Hey Guys...Just an observation...but I'd say youd need 6,000 hp to get a 33Bertram up to 50 knots......and that 47-53 knot speed is his estimate...if you read the article ALL YOU have to (I love this)is drop the engines in ..... Yea.. the last time I changed and engine "drop" was not the word I would have chosen. Should be the worlds fastest Bertram about 45 to 53 mph estimating. All left to do is drop engines in and hook up trim tabsdirect quotes from his ad. I'd love to meet the this guy !!!!! Hey, I gotta gas up my snow blower...here it comes again..
