Gulf Grouper Victory!

Finally common sense prevailed last week. A federal judge overruled the grouper closure during November and December of this year imposed exclusively on Florida sport fisherman And a tip of the hat goes to the CCA Florida and other organizations representing sport fishing interests for pushing their lawsuit that resulted in overturning this federal edict. The grouper lawsuit victory was reported in more than 30 articles, including all of the state’s major newspapers. Among the following clips for the week ending November 6, are samples of that coverage. http://capmel.com/GulfGrouperVictory.htm 1979 Bertram 33' FBC ALEXANDRA Port Richey, Florida

Way to go, You guys down south have it made. It's a little bit tough for us northern guys to get revved up right now about fishing, it's about 30 degrees and the boats are all covered up for the winter. How do you find the time to work on boats down there if you're always using them? Frank Price

Frank, We just do a little maintenance all the time, than to doing a lot all at once. Besides, it is easier to work on them when it warm, you should come down and try it sometime! [8D] [}:)] 1979 Bertram 33' FBC ALEXANDRA Port Richey, Florida

I dont really consider that a victory when i spend the gas money to go out 40 miles and can only keep 1 red grouper.I am all for conservation but when you put too restrictive limits on one species it only depletes another. That means now the charters will target a more prized fish like the black or gag grouper.worst yet they will concentrate on snapper fishing and instead of reducing the 10 fish limit now they will wait until there are no snapper left and then say you can get 1 for your $400 in fuel.unfortunately in my area grouper and snapper is the only species worth going offshore for.I sure wish i could fish for dolphin ,swords tuna ,and marlin all the time. Tim, guess you need to move over here to the East side. We left Fri for a 3 day fishing trip. Wasn't too successful. Didn't get catch any live bait, trolled up to PBI, Caught 1 Dolphin and a King. Gave away the King. Dog gets sick. Then it started blowing and we didn't get back out , so we had to anchor up and drink beer til Sunday and ditch ride back to Boca. But I was out on my boat, so I guess that is all that matters. Didn't fix the damm door either. Oh well .... Gene Dugan

Gene, A day on the boat is ALWAYS better than a day not on the boat! Anytime you HAVE to stop and drink beer for the benefit others is noble. Too bad for the dog, I have had a day or two like that in my life too. Just don't let him drink so much beer in heavy seas next time.[;)] 1979 Bertram 33' FBC ALEXANDRA Port Richey, Florida
