Hello everyone!

Post by reelriot85 »

I am extreemely happy to have found this site. I traded an '87 Mako 261 even for my 1977 33 FBC back in February. My wife and I have enjoyed a few overnight trips already in preperation for future island hopping. We love this boat and are in the process of getting her the way we want. All systems work well and with some elbow grease she's looking really good. I look forward to picking everyones brains as I get into possible repowering etc. I WILL be in touch! Dan

Hey Mikedcabo! Thanks for the come back. I'm very fortunate in that I have a home on the water in Boynton Beach, FL. It is about 10 miles South of West Palm Beach on the East coast. We dock the Reel Riot there. We can be over great fishing grounds withing 20 minutes of throwing the lines off. How's the fishing now in LA? How did you fare with Dennis? Dan

Hey Doug, I'm a transplanted New Englander myself. I was born and raised in Connecticut and enjoyed boating on Long Island Sound for many years. Had a 1965 28' single screw Owens that was REALLY slow but REALLY solid! As for my 33, she's gas. Twin Mercruiser 454's that seem to be hanging in there. Good compression, run smooth and still pretty strong. I think I've probably got another year or two on these engines. Are you running gas too? Helo David! Thank's for the welcome. I found this site by typing in "Bertram 33" for a search. I'd done this many times in the past looking for ideas, pictures, etc. This site never came up before. I've seen the 31 site but never this one until the last time I searched. It was in the top three results. I did someting right because this is an awsome forum. I'll be in here a lot! Thank You. Dan, Welcome aboard. I also have a gas powered 33 (sport fish) and would love to repower in a few years. I couldn't help but see the coincidence of all of us Bertram owners that want to repower in the forseeable future. It makes this forum all that much more valuable but also makes me think that if there was such a place that specialized in repowering 33 berts , it could be busy in the next 3 to 5 years. Either that or there will be a lot of B33's on the market with tired or dead engines.... Frank Price '87 SF "JEANNE C;AIRE" Rowley Ma.

Hey Frank, It is amazing how many of us are wanting or needing repowers. These 33's are heavy and tough on engines. I guess most of the Bertrams are. Anyway, this forum has tons of info on the subject which is great. Dan

Thanks for the welcome Tim, You're right, Ive been looking through posts for hours since finding this site. I've allready solved a couple of problems by reading the info in here. Is it as hot over there on the West Coast as it is here? I left a gallon puddle of sweat in the bilge yesterday! Dan

Welcome Dan, We are just down the street in Boca. The boat is docked on the west side of the ICW from Spanish River Park. Our 33 FBC is a 1989 and the name is 'Nauti Marie". The boat is out a lot in the summer. So keep a eye out. Mostly West End, Bimini trips. You will love to cruise this boat. We have nothing bad to say (except , I hate that damm sliding DOOR). Normally we have 4 onboard + the dog , dink , dive gear, and can stay out for a week or two without hating each other. I think we are going to do the Peanut Island thing the WE of July 29. Gene Dugan

Hey Gene, We'll sure keep an eye out for you out there. We visit Peanut Island quite a bit. We haven't taken our new girl to the islands yet. I'm still building my confidence in the engines etc. It'll be nice taking this boat over. I've taken our 25' and 26' Mako's over. They got there fast but I'm getting to the age where fast isn't as important as comfort. I look forward to meeting up with you out there. Thanks for the welcome! PS: I know what you mean about that door!
