Shakedown trip - San Diego
Shakedown trip - San Diego
Well, we took the boat out today for its first fishing trip, and learned a lot shaking things out. I found out that the starboard engine's starter solenoid would not work when it heated up, so I had to do the old screwdriver to jump the starter trick. That was one little nugget. Also got to see what wasn't tied down too well as the seas where really rough. On that front, most everything was buckled down well. In those conditions, the boat just ran like a dream. With 3 people on board, each fishing two rods, things got a little crowded, but it was manageable. We fished the Point Loma and La Jolla kelp, but pulled up nothing. We then headed south towards the border, and sat on a school of Sculpin (rockfish), with the biggest being ~3#, which is the biggest one I have ever caught. That was pretty much it. Too bad, because the bait was the best I had seen in a long time. It stayed fresh all day long, so the tank really did its job. David Sumich Bertram33.com Forum Administrator
