Battery Charger

Post by BottomLine »

I have 2 4D AGM batteries. Any recommendations for a new charger?

Mike I put this one in years ago. No problems & since I live on board all summer, it gets used a lot. I have two battery banks. Each bank consists of two Grp 31 105 amp AGM batteries.
How did you make out with the windlass install?

Al: Did you modify the original battery shelf to accommodate those 4 batteries?

Mike, my old battery box was rotted so I built a new one. I have 3 batteries with long measurement running athwart ship & I have one beside them running fore n aft. They are Grp 31 Duracell batteries. At my age they are much easier to handle than the old Grp 4d's I had in there. They also last longer.

Thanks Al. I'm looking at what I can use instead of the 4ds.

I use Odyssey they last forever a bit expensive but well worth the money. I know it sounds ridiculous but I put a pair in 10 years ago replaced one last year and thinking of replacing the other this year, engines start instantly. Not to mention the space you save and the weight reduction.

Checked the battery I replaced last year. I’m not sure what you mean by size but here is the model # 31M-PC2-2150ST-M Marine. If you google Odyssey Batteries or go to their site it comes right up. Not cheap $555 but they last years. Like I said last year I replaced one after 9 years and this year I’ll replace the other after 10 years.
