Would anyone have a diagram of the size of the over sized rudders? I remember seeing it here some years back. I did a search but couldn't find anything

I think that may have been on the 31 site. I know I'm getting old, but I can't think of anyone here that has over-sized rudders.

SOrry.

I do recall someone, and I think it was the boat that was over on the West Coast, possibly Oregon, that had that nasty inlet to deal with on a constant basis. After braking the port shaft off in Georgia and limping the rest of the way to NC on one engine, my boat handled like a dream...granted it was only 10 Kts @1800 RPM, but I wouldn't think bigger was necessary at anytime for me.

Right after I hit send, I think his name was "chumbucket" on the West Coast.

Oh yeah. That guy. He used to boat out of the same place they shot the charter fishing scene from One Flew Over the CooKoo's nest.

I remember there were photos of the over sized rudders to the regular rudders. The shaft and blade of the rudder was all stainless. It seems that the site has lost lots of previous photos and info

I purchased some a while back from Danny at High Tide Marine a while back. One of my originals broke at the shaft. The new ones were much larger and noticeably better.

I can ask my neighbor to take a photo of them if you would like. I'll be in NE for a bit, the boat is on a lift.

Let me know.

Unfortunately yes. The site was hacked a few years ago and David had to rebuild from scratch and a lot was lost.

While action on the site has been slow since then, it had been getting progressively slower in the few years leading up to that. My guess would be that fewer folks surf the web using their PC's or laptops and its not easy to view this site from a smart phone. It's too bad really as this use to be a lively place with lots of contributors.

I took a picture, but can't seem to paste or insert it here.

If you want me to text or email it I will, or help with how to insert it.

I have a template I made tracing it on cardboard, then dimensioned.

Hey Scott. We are here in North Palm Beach 1986 Bertram 33 and lost one rudder. Doing a completely restoration on this ole girl. Would appreciate any dimensions on the oversized rudders as we plan to fabricate a new pair for our boat. Thank you.
