Has anyone cut a transom door into a Bert 35?

My boat sure would be a lot easier to use if I had a transom door. Does the Bertram 35 need a complete structure as built in order to be properly used? Can it handle a transom door being added? My transom was professionally reinforced when the St. Croix davits were added to the boat. I would not put a door in where a davit mount exists. Maybe centered? Thanks for any advice I might get.
