Shaft came put of trans

Was offshore at canyons and startboard would no go into gear. Looked like shaft slid out of trans. Not sure what happened or how to fix. Anyone know? 3126 cats with zf trans

My buddy thinks the trans is shot. I guess engine needs to come out to get it out?

I am in the process of replacing my tranny ZF220A while in the water. It blew Memorial Day weekend. Had to cut the bolts off the coupler and cut the shaft coupler in half; I had a rust problem. Picked up the new tranny and adapter plate Friday It’s painted and ready to go in this week. The tranny was $4000.00 the adapter plate was $650 and the new split coupler was $165. Feel free to ask me any questions you may need answered.

It turns out to be the bolt broke that went from coupler to trans. $5 fix
