Det-Mar Tachometer's

Post by Rick »

Looks like I've finally lost my port tach, I've been messing with the 4 - 6 - 8 position switch on the back for a while but now it's just dead and the starboard one is jumping around at idle. All my other gauges work fine, so I think I'll just replace the tach's. Has anyone found a good replacement for the original Det-Mar's ? Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

I put in Faria tach's when we got our boat 11 years ago as they matched the other gauges. Occasionally the 4/6/8 switch needs to be cycled on one of them to fix erratic readings. It's not the first brand I've had that problem with.

Rick, I just did a complete overhaul of all of my gauges and hour meters about a month or so ago. I went with the Faria Chesapeake-Black gauges and they look great day/night. Previously, I used the same gauges, only in White for my old 28 and they just didnt look as good in the 33 dash. So far, so good! All the best, Jim

I used the Aetna engineering digital tachs. Great product and service. Digital was great to easily sync to within a few rpm.

Rick, Hang on for a little while. I think I may still have the Detmars when I replaced everything up top. I just have to search for them. If I have them, you're welcome to them. Al

I hear u Rick, Ticket is prominently displayed by the road for everyone to see. Bertram Proud! I came out Friday afternoon. Must be much better to not have to take the trip back to Danversport& have it close at hand to work on. I put in flowscan twin tachs in one gauge & twin flowscans in the other. But I think flowscan has gone out ir is going out of business.
