fire suppression system

ok, so im that new owner with a million questions... sorry... at least i'm livening up the board temporarily...lol Can someone talk to me about the built in fire suppression system. mine has a nonfunctional system that has the pull thing in the cockpit and the main components in the hanging locker behind a pegboard partition. would like to get it working as economically as possible. I am 5 ours form the boat and wont get back until next weekend, so i am gust trying to get familiar with the system and my options. thanks

You may want to just remove and add a smaller system in the engine room if you have a diesel boat. Gas could be another issue

Unfortunately to have the system refurbished is going to be quite expensive. Chances are the bottle will have to be removed, hydro tested, refilled, new valve installed, and new pull cable installed. I still have the system you describe and it was a very costly operation to get it recertified. If I remember it was around 2 grand. I had to pay travel back and forth to their shop a few times which was about an hour away. Hope you find better prices than I did.

Just rip out the old system & install a new Fireboy automatic. I forget what size I used but easy to calculate what you need based on the volume in the engine compartments.

Thanks guys. I have a local shop that does hydros so I don't think that is much of an issue. I'm going to have. Better look this weekend. If I have to end up putting an ac there anyhow it's a moot point. Just to add info on the site I'll keep this updated and throw on some pics for other people's future reference
