Over the road transportation Bertram33

Post by Keybilly »

Hello , new here and looking to trade up my 28 FB for a 33 FBC. have a bid on a 33 in Fla and want to ship it to lake Erie. What i need to know is if anybody has a definitive answer on the height i can get the boat to by doping the props, windshield, and half tower. Anyone ever transported a Bertram 33 FBC without removing the fly bridge?

Welcome Dan, have you tried doing a search on this site? I know there has need a lot of talk about trucking 33's. We had a hacker that made the site lose a lot information so it may not be here but I'm sure some of the guys will be able to answer your question.

I think that over much of a distance the FBC would need the flybridge removed . You really need to get it under 13'6" and I think it's a bit tall for that. You may have to search individual haulers to find one with experience with one but then you'll have to remind him that it's the taller 33 than the SF.

Thanks for getting back to me, i found another Bertram of the same vintage and she is 14'11 all day long from bottom of the rudders to the top of the fly bridge helm. Whatever boat i buy i will have to bring her home on water. Here is another issue i found with this boat, It looks like the Bertram33.com user photofinish has either sold his Bertram to another guy or he is being used for a scam on eBay. I tried to buy the boat from a guy named brain Kelly on eBay with 1 feedback. The boat was in FT Meyers FLA. supposedly. i am going to email him to make sure. Thanks again.

The owner of Photo finish sold her awhile back, maybe a couple years ago? Maybe more. Not sure who owns her now.

I had my boat moved about 300 miles over the road without removing the fly bridge, but they used a hydraulic trailer and removed the windshield and everything else that was higher than the fiberglass dash. In addition, he had an extra high permit, and we were right at the height limit.

Thank's for the replies this pretty much answers my questions about transportation and feeling bad about not buying photo-finishes (previous) boat. The boat is in FT Meyers and the guy was selling it to me for 20k but i just couldn't get it back to my neck of the woods, and he needed to get it out of there asap. If anyone wants the contact # for the boat he will sell it very in expensive 800 hrs on crusaders boat is in good shape from what i could see, but i did not inspect it personally.
