When I was reseaching the issues that I was having someone directed me to a magazine called Bg game journel. The editor has a Rampage that he had 3208t 300 hp. He upgraded the motors by installing an aftercooler, injectors and some fuel adjustments. Brought the boat from a 19 20 kt boat to a 24 25 kt boat. No smoke. He put in 4 blade props dripless shaft seals ect. The upgrade to the motors brought hp to 375hp from 300. It looks like, from the pics that this is very possible to do with a sportfish. He had them sandblasted and fully painted. The work was done by south jersey marine. Very good article. I had sent to the magizine to get a copy and I was able to talk to Capt Len about his project. Just thought you guys would like to know that. Mike

Any ideas what the cost was? I'll bet those after-coolers weren't cheap.

Sorry Doug, that was one thing that wasnt discussed. I think in the near future, next yr. , I might do an out of boat engine clean up. The article had pics of the motors out of the boat and in the boat. Tell you the truth the install looked pretty easy. The aftercoolers are no higher than the top of the turbo. I've seen after coolers, used for 12 to 1500 ea. I will definetly be looking into it next yr. Can anyone tell me the weight of the 33 with gas and the weight with the Cats. My boat is registered at 24000lbs but it was a gas boat. Now with the cats I am wondering if I am understateing my boat weight loaded. I estimated it at 27800. Thats 24000 for the boat, 310 gals of fuel at 8lbs per gal, 6 guys at 220lbs each and 1000lbs for bait ice and rods. Any of you guys with the original 3208 package and gen can let me know what your weight is, thanks. Mike

Sean, he did not mention anything about his pumps. He said that the fuel settings were adjusted, new injectors were installed and the aftercoolers were put in. I will check with him to see if his pumps needed to be replaced. Mike

maybe he has a different setup... with my 01Z series 3208's, the answer was that I would need new/different injector pumps. $7k kind of killed the idea for me. Well that and the idea of screwing around too much with engines that already have 3500 hours on them, but are still purring along just fine. If it isn't broken....

Sent an email to Len and he stated that the mechanic incresed the rack setting on the pump. He is going to check his records and get back to me. I also have the same series as yours Sean. Isnt yours a 260 hp turbo? I wonder if the lower horse power units have diffrent pumps. Mike
