Bertram 33 SF Value

Post by dealerschoice »

Do any of you have any idea what a realistic price should be for a 1987 SF with 350hp Yanmars with 1400 hours, Northern Lights generator, hardtop, new curtains, and decent electronics? Very good shape mechanically, just needs a few cosmetic things. Thanks. Scott 1987 B33 SF Dealer's Choice V Edisto Beach, SC

$100K is a good start. But you're probably looking around $60 - $70K as an actual sale price. Boats in general just aren't moving. Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

Thanks guys. That's about what I figured. I don't think I would take $60K but there are some serious deals out there. I guess when boats start moving the great deals will be gone. I am not sure mine is actually worth $60 when a 42 in decent shape can be bought for less than a $100k. It's always fun looking. Scott 1987 B33 SF Dealer's Choice V Edisto Beach, SC

I would love to sell my 33fbc for 60! You don't sell boats you give them away to unload the burden! I see boats like ours selling from 20k to 55k, ask a hundred mine will be easier to sell.

Scott, I have been looking for the" right " boat for some time now. I have looked at different sizes from Bert 30 moppie to a blackfin 38 on which I did a sea trial one week ago. It is a very nice boat in good condition but I am fearful that it might end up being too much boat for me. I would like to seriously look at a 33 sport fish which is mechanically well kept because that size might be more manageable. Hence when I saw your post I became interested. It all depends on the condition of the boat. Franco

Franco, You are very lucky to be looking for a boat in this market. I think there are some wonderful deals out there right now. I have only owned my 33sf for 2 1/2 years and I am not sure that I am willing to take what these boats are bringing right now if they are even selling at all. I understand what you mean by trying to find the 'right' boat. My problem is our dock is only 25 feet long and I feel like I have about as much boat tied up there as I can. Before I bought the 33, I had a very good friend try to give me a 40' Viking. Because we own the dock with another family and we use the outside of the dock, I felt like the 40 would make it very difficult for them to get to the inside. I have always been partial to Bertrams and I think I do have the 'right' boat. If I could sell our half of the dock and end up with a slip to accomodate a larger boat, I might be willing to sell my perfect boat for a more perfect boat. Ok Scott, I get the picture, you guys who take good care of your boats are holding on to them.LOL. Thanks any way I was just hoping. Saw the transom of your boat in the manatee pix post and from that angle looked clean. Will let you know if I settle on the Blackfin or stumble into a clean 33 sportfish. Regards Franco
