I must be crazy!

Post by ckuppens »

Ok. It is official I bought the boat. I have spent the last 3 weeks reading every post on the site... Learning everything I can about the 33's and 35B's on this site so I feel like I know you guys already. I am looking forward to being active on this forum and offering whatever I can. I am sure you all know the boat I bought in Wareham as it has been listed on the web for most of the year. This is my 3rd boat... went from a 21 CC to a 25 Luhrs and now the big jump to the 35 GASSER! Wish me luck... I will be spending the next few weekends prepping it for launch and making in my own (I have a small window as my wife is Due in 4 weeks). We have named her Ricochet and we will call Onset, MA our home port!

Congrats Chris. Are you at Point Independence or Onset Bay? Tell us about the boat.

This year we are going to keep the boat on a mooring. I have had a beautiful spot about just outside the Point Indy mooring field for a few years now. I pay $85 a year for the mooring! We will probably get a slip down the road but for now we will spend the money on the slips we visit on the weekends! As for the boat… The previous owner took great care of it. Many upgrades… teak and holly floor, all new cushions etc etc… It has twin 454’s that tested out fine in the survey. It has been at Point Indy for the past 11 years and prior to that it was down the cape. I am addressing a few minor things this spring… and throwing in a floscan… One cool thing about the boat is it has a lower station (added 2 owners ago)… Besides that I am just going to run it. Put in gas, run boat, drink beer.. repeat! Chris Onset, MA 1979 35B

I've seen that boat at PI a number of times. I always thought it looked well cared for. I like the J&J hardtop, they do nice work. Hopefully the gas engines will give you many trouble free years. You've got a great base for what we like to call a floating restoration. Start saving your pennies so you can drop in a pair of 370B Cummins and really take advantage of the deep-V. These hulls love to cruise at 23-24 knots.

That's how most of us do it. I got my 33 back in 2002. It was a clean, well cared for boat. I was 34. I stripped the bottom in 2003 (unfortunately I did it again in 2009). I re-cored the cockpit and hatches and did the hardtop in 2004, and finally installed diesels in 2007.

Hey what did he finaly take for that 35B. If you don't mind me asking? Last year I offered him 45K and he countered at 60K. Jeff
