Just thinking ahead. If I rebuild the aft bulkhead and put on new mica can it be painted? If so, any special part number or process to paint it? Jeff Thank God it's a Bertram

Frank Price will have to chime in on this one. He painted the formica on my aft bulkhead after I fixed the rot. I scuffed it with a scotch brite pad, washed it with simple green, and rinsed with fresh water prior to Frank's painting. That was 2 seasons ago and it still looks brand new. I have no idea what kind of paint he used.

I just roll-n-tip'd mine, though it was awlgrip'd once before. I didn't spray because I didn't have the equip or patience to try. It's ok, next time I may do the prep and then get someone to spray it.

I think spraying is the way to go. It really looks like it came that way from the factory.

I had the entire cockpit and bulkhead on mine awlgripped a year and a half ago. All the original (1982) formica and bulkhead were in great shape so it was prepped and sprayed. It was done in off white and came out looking like it was a new boat. I'm just hoping it lasts for 5+ years! It also cleans up very easily after a day of fishing.
