Wood blinds anyone?

Post by DemianM »

I want to replace my fabric curtains with wood blinds, or even with white aluminum ones. Has anyone done anything similar? If you have any pics, please help me decide!

DemianM... I also am considering installing wood or Al blinds, so please let me know if you learn anything that does not get posted here. I will be watching this string as others answer here nas well.

I posted a pick somewhere here. I just did mine, replaced the curtains with wood blinds. Made a matching wood filler for the triangular portion of the side windows. I ordered simple home wood blinds. When I got them I had to toss the mounting hardware, drill holes in the headrail and mount it. We travel with them up (my grandfather taught me to always keep blinds open while underway in case of emergency) so the swaying isn't an issue.

I installed 1" aluminum blinds a couple of years ago after seeing Bill's. Went with Black and we love them. Can't remember whether they were Hunter Douglas or Levilor? They were a new design at the time ... 1" blinds when closed but when opened two would overlap each other creating a 1 1/2" - 2" opening (more daylight, less blinds visible). We filled the back triangles with plywood boards, covered in padding, then covered with material that matched door curtain. Don't have a picture handy but can look around for the original invoice if you need a model name?

Can you please try to take a picture for me? I want to make some more ideas in my head of how they will look. Thanks a lot!

I'll try to get a picture when I go to the boat this weekend.
