Well the time for the reef donkeys is just about here. Nothing is more fun than to watch the guy who claims the fish are never big enough or pull hard enough get a eighty pound plus amber jack on the line. Then if that's not enough he can get the five hundred pound plus tiger sharks that follow the amber jacks to there spawning area 12 miles off shore of us. Break out the rod safety straps and hang on! I've caught Amberjack's before off of West Palm and you're right.....they feel like you've caught a submarine. Couldn't believe it. We caught them right over a wreck...just chunked to the bottom and could have caught as many as we wanted. Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

Larry, we have Yellowtail here on the West Coast (a member of the Jack family), and they are my favorite fish to catch (although Dorado are a close second). Great eating too.

We also get Yellow Jacks at the reefs edge. Fun to catch and good to eat! For pure pulling power the Amberjack has to be one of the strongest. From the depth we fish them at 300 foot all the way to the surface a battle. I have seen the strongest of men have burning arms. After two of these fish everyone wants to look for a few smaller fish!
