Access to starboard engine

I am the proud owner of an '85 33 FBC with twin 330Bs. I bought the vessel in the beginning of last summer and decided to perform a light refit over the winter. First thing I want to check are the engines. I called my engineer and asked him to perform an extensive service. I removed the carpet in the salon and realized that the two hatches enabling access to the starboard engine of the boat are under the galley. There is no way you can lift them unless you remove the cupboards, the counter and all the stuff that is on the starboard side in the salon. Is this possible? Could someone help me before I call a carpenter? Thanks, Alex

Welcome aboard Alex. Is the hatch split in 3 places? Mine is and I can pull all 3 sections without having to touch the cabinets. It takes a little wiggling to get them out.

Thanks Doug, It's split in 2 pieces of equal size, however you can't lift them at all. I have the original layout, cabinets etc and I can't get. Engines must be accessible in a way without taking appart the salon. Alex quote:Originally posted by dougl33 Welcome aboard Alex. Is the hatch split in 3 places? If you remove the base board under the cabinets (3 or 4 screws) you should be able to remove them.
