Retro-fitting

We have just purchased a 33 and wish to retro-fit with an L shaped dinette with the fold over table that I see in so many old layouts. Does anyone have a source for that table? Love the vessel! We have been watching for this one for several years. Also, how about replacement mattresses. I had custom's priced today that were quite over the top. Thanks Julie

Julie, Congratulations and welcome aboard. Not sure what model or year boat you have but there are a few different ways to go about a new mattress. You can buy new foam and just replace what you have or , as you found out, you can have a custom one made. If you replace the existing foam, I would recommend latex. It will be a bit softer . I used urethane foam and it was a bit firm so I used a company named "tufted topper" which makes a topping for the mattress about an inch thick , custom fit to your V birth and is quite nice. They also make fitted sheets that are worth the money.

Thanks for the great posts. I will check out Pomponette for furniture, and Tufted Toppers for mattresses. I have already been on the Arigoni site. I can see that the 33 has a loyal following. We have had sevaral boaters come and ohh and ahh.. Our new/old one is an '87, called "Lively Lady" (I must get a picture posted). She was well cared for. I grew up on a 1958 Wood Christ Craft, and the boat we are retiring is an 88 Sea Ray Weekender. We have 2 daughters now aged 7 and 13 who also have been doing this all their lives. It's wonderful family time. Now, how about interior cabin flooring. Is it mahagoney 1/4 nch? What is the source? Julie

Julie, WELCOME Go to the home page & clik on the slide show. There are several choices to look at for a cabin sole redo. You can also go to one of the discussions here: Al

I'm in the middle of having Amtico Teak & Holly flooring installed by the same guy that did Doug's (Queen Elizabeth) last year (?).

Brian, What is the Amtico Teak & Holly floor costing you, if you don't mind my asking. I was going to dive into that today. Julie Lively Lady

Julie, The guy is holding the same price that he had done Doug's for at $3K. He's using 1/4" Marine plywood as a base in the salon and is installing directly on the floor down by the bunks, bathroom & V-berth. I have the FBC model with all the salon hatches etc.

Brian and Doug, I am in the process of doing the same thing w/ Amtico. How did you handle hatch edges and steps? Love to see pics.

Bob, I had the installer make all the hatches in the salon available. Essentially I can pull up the entire salon floor if I need to. I don't have any pics, but I'll try and get some next weekend.

Does anyone have any tips for getting the scuff marks off the interior wall material, which is kind of a textured cloth feeling vinyl? Or has anyone actually painted those surfaces, and if so, what kind of paint did you use? Thanks Lively Lady

Julie, What year and model is your boat? Gas or diesel?

Doug, it's a 1987 Gas. Looks like the Queen Elizabeth except we'll rig up the dingy on the stern. It is still in the water here in Northern Michigan. We tend to be the last one out! Julie

OK. So you have what's called a Flybridge Cruiser (FBC). The other 33 model is the Sport Fisherman (SF). I assume you mean the fabric that covers the companion way (hallway) and the v-berth walls. Mine is in pretty good shape so I've never actually wiped it down.
