anybody using mooring whips?
Anybody using mooring whips? I have a bulkeaded lot and I'm moving my 33fbc there but wondering if anybody else here is using them.
I use them. My canal is narrow and cannot put in dolphins. I have big fenders as well for the idiots that don't know what "No Wake" means. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. "Nauti Marie" 1989 33 FBC

I have the long black shock absorbers on the pilings and a big fender on top of that at the front piling. I get a lot of surge up the canal on weekends off the Intracoastal from big boat wake. Usually not a problem. My biggest problem is a guy up the canal that with a PWC. This idiot tows a couple of his 200 lb. buddies on a tube up the canal full tilt. Slams all the boats, not a care in the world. I blasted him with a hose a couple weeks ago, and he'll slow down if I'm out there. There is always a big confrontation with me or the other neighbors. He'll get his in the end. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. "Nauti Marie" 1989 33 FBC

I use them. I have 2-20'+- polls with 1 1/4"base. My boat faces west. A few years ago we had a tropical storm go by with 50mph sustained winds and higher gusts. The NE wind pushed the boat up against the bulkhead so I put 2 more 20' polls with a 1"base which I saved from my previous boat. Once I put them on they pushed the boat right off. I believe bigger is better when it comes to the whips. Michael 33sf
