Well I closed on the boat today - I am officially the owner of a 1983 Bertram SF. The scarriest part of the deal was that since the owner died - I had no idea what was done to the boat and when - but the price was so attractive - I had to chance it. Today when I closed on the boat - the prior owners wife brought all of the origonal books from the boat including ones from Bertram and every piece of electronics, water heaters, ac - and everything that has ever been added. Along with this was a log book that included every bit of maintenence, upgrades, date and hours on boat at that time (since 1999). To make things better - the prior owner tracked every ounce of fuel that went into the boat, every fishing trip, sea conditions, what was caught, where, and current hours on engines - in the next colum he had fuel burn broken down for every time he ever took the boat out - stopping when he returned to refuel, and track GPH. Now I can eliminate a lot of what I was going to have to do this winter - leaving my list 2 pages instead of 4!! - I can't wait to get this boat back in the water.....

you are very lucky, i wish i had the maintenance records...I got my boat in august and just realized that the hour meters are not working.I would have thought the surveyor would have caught that. so instead of having 500hrs port and 350hrs. starboard who knows what I have.
