My boat is on the hill having the bottom painted, new transducer installed, close up the holes of a couple of old trnsducers, and installing new packing on my rudders. When my boat was converted from gas to diesel the seacocks for the engines where changed. I couldn't get the water to cut all the way off on my a/c pump or my toilet pump. So took we took them apart and decided to install new ones. That only left two seacocks that hadn't been replaced and I decided to replace them. These lasted 20 years. Hopefully the new ones will last as long. Have any of you guys had to replace any seacocks? Buzz buzzk 1988 Bertram 33 FBC Buzz Off Morehead City, NC

Mine where the 90 degree seacocks. Now all of mine have been replaced. In the past on the other boats I've owned, I only checked to see that they would turn. This time before I had her hauled I not only checked to make sure they turned but tht water didn't come out after turning them off. Buzz buzzk 1988 Bertram 33 FBC Buzz Off Morehead City, NC

Replaced every one when I bought the boat - I hate gate valves and they were everywhere. I replaced them all with 90 degree ball valves.

I haven't replaced any. I rebedded them , and went to starboard backing. The only thing I did with the seacocks, was clean them up with a wire wheel , put in new viewing bowles and seals. They are pretty much in perfect condidtion. Guess Bertram got away from gate valves long before the 89 models. Gene Dugan Boca Raton, Fl. "Nauti Marie" 1989 33 FBC

There is one gate valve on my boat. Its the one for the ac intake. It was a survey item back in 2002, but I never got around to changing it. Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth Marblehead, MA [img]
