A.C install

Post by sbeer »

Completed my new a.c. install this weekend. Toke the old one out completely with the core and installed the new unit were the core was in the cabin. Fit like a glove. Nice thing about electric heat is that during the cold months you already have you water system winterized. All you are useing is the blower. Great for early season strippers and late season strippers. Works like a charm. Amazing how small the unit is and how little amps it pulls and very quite. Best investment I have made so far. I have the cat tech coming down to perform poppet tests on my injectors and do A COMPRESSION CHECK. i WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW THAT CoMES OUT IN ACOUPLE OF DAYS. mIKE

Mike, Your injector test and compression check - are they proactive or are you having an issue? Let me know what CAT charges you. Also, is your CAT guy from Ransome?

The unit is 16700 btu and draws half of what my other unit drew at start-up. Love it so far, lets see how long it lasts. $1600 total for everything from hoses to recic pump and shipping. They supplied everything you would need if you were starting from scratch Thanks, Mike T 35' Bertram Caribe 1971 Salem, MA

Manni, I am having him do full maint. on them. 500 hrs, you need to have the valves done. I don't have any issues except alittle drop in cruise speed,[about a knot] at 2400 rpm. I havent had the injectors looked at since I bought the boat 5 yrs ago. Going to do a poppet test on all the injectors, compression check, adjust the rockers, he said one was tapping, inspect the fuel pump and replace one of my crank case breather cans, my fault I screwed that one up. The motors have about 3500 hrs on them. My opinion it is way over due. I will keep you posted. Mike
