John, The one in North Carolina, was that cummins powered or yanmar? What was wrong with it? Or was it already sold?

No, still for sale.... rode hard put away wet..after owning so many boats over the years you would thought I learned a think or two about boat brokers. At least that what the bride said after the 10 hour car ride[xx(]

Hi John, Isn't that North Carolina boat supposed to be a completely mechanically redone, sweet boat? Was it really a beater or just needing a little cosmetic update? Robert Boca Raton, FL

John C.. Mistersea... If this boat is the "Sea Star" I have seen it in the Seapath YC here in Wilmington.. it looks OK from the outside but I have never been on her. JohnC.. if you posted something here about your coming to look at it earlier and I missed it I am sorry.. I live about 20 minutes from this boat and would have taken a preliminary look see at it for you before you made the trip. Mistersea.. based on my comments above if you want me to do the same for you let me know. I know the owner of the brokerage firm and can get onto the boat with no hassle. No sense wasting the time and money to look at a junker. I have found that all boats look good in the listing pictures! There is another SF for sale locally.. with new Cummins 370HP.. I spoke with the owner about two years ago when I was searching for myself. I see the price has recently been reduced. It is in Hampstead, NC, near Wilmington. Here is a link to these two boats.

Interesting enough, I'm the listing broker. I did not show you the boat. I did have another broker ask to "preview" this boat for his client last Wed. so his client could decide whether he would make the trip to Carolina or not. Are you that broker?

No I am not. Was made aware of that boat buy reading this forum and speaking with several people who live in the area. My idea of clean and others idea of clean is very differant.

Thanks for your call this hour, John & good luck in your search. Appreciate your feedback. I would have been happy to answer any questions you had on this boat in order to save you the trip, and am sorry she didn't stack up to your expectations. I have a video of this boat on our website and have just previewed her with Frank B -

My last two boats were sold word of mouth...that is how I maintain my boats.. and I admit I am very picky.

John I am not trying to bust your balls; but maybe a little elbow grease can save you big time on the offer amount. These boats are not new; but compounding, waxing, new carpets, ect can make them look almost new. As long as the mechanicals are in good maybe looking past the crud can save you some big money. It is a buyers market right now. I looked for over three years for just the right 35B. I gave up and then one came up for sale less then 10 miles away. Jumped on it; but offered $40,000 less then asking. Made the deal in November. The owner did not want to own her over the winter. New carpets, comming pads, compound and wax and a general scrubbing was all she needed. Anyway good luck. I do know there are lots of dogs out there as I looked at most of them 6 years ago. Many of them are still for sale or the newer owners are trying to sell now. Charlie
