Where is your lifesaver?

Post by Admin »

If you look on the home page, you can see the back of my boat. On the port side I have my lifesaver hung up as high as I could get it, but it still gets in the way when I open up the port side engine box. Does anyone have a better place for it that is easily accessible, yet out of the way? David Sumich Bertram33.com Forum Administrator

Good morning. Your life ring is in about the only place it can go. To avoid having to take it down each time we open the port engine hatch, I attached a zip tie ( kind with a screw mounting hole molded on it) to the metal ring on the bulkhead. The hook fits snugly in the screw mounting hole, and the life ring stays in place. Jim Bost

So are you saying that the zip tie gives the hook a hinge-like behavior so you can swing it up out of the way? David Sumich Bertram33.com Forum Administrator

On our boat, the hook is on the engine cover and the ring for the hook is on the bulkhead. I attached the zip tie to the ring for the engine cover hook. The zip tie falls against the bulkhead when we put the engine cover down. Jim
