Re-chroming in the Boston area

I have a siren from an old police car (30's or 4-'s). My dad had it on his old 1926 38 Matthews and it was one of the things I took off when we finally sold it in 1998 after 51 years in the family. Since I'm finally getting my hard top installed I'll have a place to mount it. The problem is that its a little beat up. The bell coulds use some work and I'd like to have the whole thing re-chromed. Does anyone know of a place in the Boston area that does that type of work? Thanks in advance for your help. Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth

Doug, I know of a few places but there are no easy answers on chrome anymore. The old craftsmen that used to do it are few and far between.A bad chrome shop will ruin a part like you`ve never seen before so be careful. The guy I use for car stuff is fantastic and expensive but is still working on making it last on boats in the salt water environment. It`s a bit of a different bag I guess. I am going to give him my ships bell to do and see if he can make it last.I`m familiar with the processes and deal with chrome and metal finishing all the time , so let me know if I can help.At the very least I can give you more advice if I saw the part.
