I am proud to say that I will soon be a rookie Bertram driver. Found '85 FBC in VG condition, other than being a gasser. FG tank change out is first issue to resolve, 135 hours on Mercs. Boat has been in VA waters where no E-10 mandate thus hasn't had it's first drink of the "new" stuff. We're in MD, had our first full season, finding lots of different answers/opinions. Have read much on this site pertaining to this, probably will attempt to contact some direct to obtain more. Will update after sea trail and survey this coming Friday, with what I'm am sure will be more questions. I have spent numerous hours, I'm sure is just the beginning, reading various postings on this site which have already proven invaluable. Thanks for all the response thus far. Jeff

Jeff, Congrats. That's great news! Welcome to the membership of the faithful. You won't be disappointed. During the sea-trial, be sure to check the adhesion of the velocijet exhaust outlets (the fixtures at the aft end of the topsides that look like mailslots) as they can pull away from the insides of the hull and dump exhaust fumes and water back into the hull. Please re-fresh my memory. Where will you be boating from? Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth Marblehead, MA [img]

Congrats Jeff ! The more you work on it, the more you'll realize how solid that boat is. Good advice from Doug, I had to re-seal my port velocijet exhaust last year but that's a relatively easy project. Good luck !

Jeff, Welcome Aboard! Good luck with the sea-trail, though it looks like it's going to cool off for ya. When I sea trialed my B35, there was still ice in the South River, ah fond memories;) I'm in Baltimore and there are several other Bertram stewards in the area. Best of Luck with your new ride. If you can make it by sea or land the Atlantic City Rendezvous is a good time. br, John D "Lady D" Bertram 35 Pasadena MD

Doug, thanks for the look for, any more from anyone else is welcome as Friday is sea trail and survey. I hail out of Annapolis, MD, will primarily cruise Chesapeake. Just a little bay fishing for now. Boat has not been fished, no riggers, modest electronics and gassers. One day it is the plan to get rigged for an occassional ocean jaunt.

JohnD By chance do you winter your 35 at Madden's in Pasadena? Know of one in their yard. I'm an old Pasadena bouy, still know the area prety well. I booked a slip on South River, Oak Grove. You may know this marina.

Samll world Jeff. If it wasn't for Madden (Roger & his crew) I would have never made it through the fist years of stewardship. When Roger died it was like we lost one of our family. I still try to throw them business when I can. Though a couple of years ago I began using Anchor Bay East a more full service yard with boat store onsite. There's another 35 that winter's at Lou's and berth's on Stoney creek, nice guy but can't remember his name. I keep my boat in Nabb's Creek at our community pier, Chestnut Hill Cove is the community. I'm not that familiar with the South River, it's a little far for me. We'll definitely have to hook up this summer. In the past some of us have met at Kentmor Marina on Kent Island for drinks/dinner. Shoot me an e-mail and I'll keep you posted,

Robert, What a beautiful day for a sea trail this past Friday was. In the midst of that Nor'easter with rain, sleet and 3 footers, at least that's what the surveyor said. Ran her hard, hauled her out and went over pretty thoroughly, 7 hours. Nothing major/serious, more so a few suggestions. So it's just setting settlement and plan return trek home for certain re-tank, engines have 135 hrs, don't want to risk problems. Robert, is that your SF off of starboard heading into Republic of Eastport at foot of Eastport bridge? Just a guess. Will keep you posted. Jeff
