Mike, I hear what you're saying about the loose zincs but I have a very hard time believing one could actually bend a shaft, unless it could become lodged between the tip of the prop and the hull. I mean, we're not talking about the space shuttle here. Of course down there in Florida you guys might need some big ass zincs..

Fraser, With the 1 1/2 shafts, did you replace the struts or go to a small walled cutlass. What about the gland? What did you do there? Mike

I went to the thin-walled cutlass. Replaced the stuffing boxes, packing glands, etc. I have wondered if I should have gone to a 1 3/4" shaft and made all of the changes that woud have required. That would have broadened the choices available for gear ratios, prop sizes, higher-hp engines, etc. You rarely ever see big shafts on these boats, though.
