Frank, I got the templates back today from my wood worker, all copied. Sorry for the delay, he injured his back and was out for 4 weeks and then was largely back-logged on work, but he dropped them off today, so I will mail them back to you at the end of this week. I still haven't decided on the material, but I am leaning towards the flexiteek stuff for a variety of reasons. David, Thanks for the update. Don't rush for my sake. I haven't given it much thought at all. I am curious though to see if my patterns are close enough to your boat to do you any good. The patterns are pretty useless to me if they don't fit your boat and others, so keep me posted as to whether they actually save your wood worker any time or not. Frank Price

Got to tell you that I used the teak/holly plywood to do my floors three years ago, and last year my a/c drain clogged up and dumped water onto the floor for a week, ruining a good section of the floor. It won't be that difficult, (I hope) to remove the affected section, but it was clear to me that the teak plywood isn''t tough enopugh to withstand much abuse at all. The plywood delaminated and discolored badly (the wood was finished with three coats of polyurethae).

Robert, You're right , plywood won't take much abuse. To seal a floor you have to use west system or symilar product to seal up the edges and bottom completely and then the risk is still there , it's tough to seal the edges of plywood and if the water does get through , the plyood soaks up the water like a sponge, swelling it up all over the place. I would think that the solid planks would be easier to seal the edges and might not wick water in as much if the floor got really wet. Maybe David has the right idea with a sythetic product. I don't know how they do it (based on the sample I've seen), but the flexiteek is also sandable and can be finished with polyeurathane for a nice finish. Of course it advertises its sustaining powers among other things. Here is the link - Flexiteek. Good one Mike...hahaha [:D] Doug, there were no patterns made .Laying strips is different than what Frank did with the plywood where he had to pattern the plywood. I am very happy with them...i wish i could say to people i did it myself like Frank though.After seeing how the carpenter did the job,I think i probably could do the job if i had the time. However the guy who did it did a great job he even got some thick mahogany for the steps and shoe molding and stained it to match the prefinished wood.
