wow, that cleaner and your elbow grease really brought up that bilge nicely. I'll bet you cant wait until this is done - but it will be well worth it - Engines look great!

John: everything looks great..what gear are you going with???I am thinking about 3126's for mine, but 3208 435 hp would be a lot easier for me since I allready have 3208's...make sure while the engines are out to paint the oil pans real good before install. that POR 15 is great stuff....let us know how it runs......

Thanks Bill, I'm installing mechanical 3126's with 420hp. I don't think you can sqeeze the CAT3208 435hp's in a B35, not enough room unless you raise the salon floor. From talking to ohters who have the 3116/3126's it's about as tight as it gets. Hopefully I'll find out soon when the yard begins the install. br, JohnD John D "Lady D" Bertram 35 Pasadena MD

John, I think with the newer downangle transmissions you can get them in.Amberjack has 375's in his 35B and the intercooler fits. Charlie

Charlie, I think that was JP&C with the 375 cats. It was good to run into you and Tom at the Annapolis show, we also saw John F. there as well. Motors have already been in and out once to check the fit and mounts were pre-fab'd on Sunday and going to the welder on Monday. Next step is to beef up the stringers and prepare the engine beds. I hope to get over today and check out the progress, the yard does this work, I know better than to try it myself. I wound up going with cpvc plastic pipe to extend fresh water, hot and cold, to the cocpit. Easy enough to work with and cheap. It ought to last a while and longer than the cheap hose. I also ran some for the saltwater wash down, because I could, hope it works out ok. I've got some wiring to run for the generator and motor harnesses, which should happen this week. I'd like to have her in the water before December. That way I can put the rest of the interior back together over the winter at my own pace. John D "Lady D" Bertram 35 Pasadena MD

what do they do to beef up the stringers?

They add hard wood through bolted and then wrap it all in glass. Over on B31 main site under building tips there is an article on building up engine beds. The trend is to do more than the factory did, which in my case going from 350hp gas motors to 420 hp diesel with 2x the amout of torque per sice is a good thing. -jd John D "Lady D" Bertram 35 Pasadena MD

John, How is the refit going. I am debating on engines. I have 300 6bs. How tight is the fit of the 3126 cats? John

John I wish I could say how they fit [V] I got put on the back burner as the fall winterizations and shrink wrapping heated up. If there's any good news it's that the yard is full and I should be the next in line to get worked on. My engine room was gutted including the old engine beds. It's at the point now that the motors need to be dry fitted and alinged so the new engine beds can be fabricated. This is the last big hurdle, as the boat will get filled with dust and dirt from fabing the new engine beds. Then I can clean everything up and get it painted. I'll give an update later and will be taking some pictures when I can. The new exhaust is in for the most part and the fuel lines ran to the Racor's which I had mounted on the cockpit side of the salon back wall. Still a long way to go. John, I just bought the 370 cummins. I am now looking for a pair of 220a zf gears. I have to do most of the work myself. Hope to have the boat ready by May. I have a lot of work to do. I will need some advice. Anyway, I think I will start a thread like SeaNile did on Thehullthruth.com If I get up your way, can I stop by to get motivated? I have an aunt in Essex that I stop by to see from time to time.

Fryedaddy, I'm in the same boat. Just ordered a pair of 370s which will be shipped on the 3rd. The yard is ready and I'll try to document the process. (Don't mean to hijack John's thread. I'm looking foward to his repower results.)

Sea/Frye, Congrats guys!!! The 370's are an excellent choice, you'll be very happy whit them. Assuming Wes is still doing the certifications, he's got an 80's B35 with the 370's. From my conversations with him, he thought a 1.75:1 gear the best choice for a B35. Right now the only advise I can give is to take whatever estimate you have for time and $$ and multiply by 2 to start

Yep. After a great deal of research I went with 1:75 gears. This was reinforced by Tom Demann who has done several 35s. Boat goes to the yard on the 4th. Counting the days......

my b35 has been recently refit with new 370 bs i believe the zf trannys were 2to 1 ratio that were installed

Kevin what did it cost? Did you go from gas to diesel? After John gets his Cats running I may need to look at a repower. Cats or Cummins? I need more HP then my 3208 Cats put out now. I can get some good money for my Cats so the cost of repower will be somewhat less. Charlie
