Very likely that I will be there Saturday anyway so anyone that wants to see my boat ripped apart is welcome. I will post a definite plan on Friday. I am very interested to see things pulled apart myself.

Tim, I call you tonight. If I'm able to do it, it would have to be later Wednesday afternoon and I'd have to rent a car. If I could do it, does that timing work for you? Don't let me interupt your day if that isn't good. As far as Saturday goes, let me catch up to Jim (Gunny) and see where he's at regarding this timing. I'll give him a call and post details or delay options. Brian '90 Bertram 33' FBC Never Say Never Westbrook, CT (Homeport) Kinnelon, NJ (Home)

Brian, As Doug mentioned, I think I'll hold off until something has been done.I'm still interested but would like to make just one trip and see the engines in there, or at least close to it. Frank Price

Frank, Just spoke with Brian and we agreed waiting a couple of weeks would probably be better. Gunny

I was at a National Business meeting this week just north of Naples, FL. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to rent a car and drive down to meet Tim in Naples and see his 33'. He's got a great boat and a really sweet set-up with the boat in the canal at the dock right behind his house. Having your 33' in the backyard and being able to boat year-round, boy am I jealous!!! We exchanged a number of ideas and both came away with some new ideas/projects to think about and/or implement! Thanks for your gracious hospitality Tim, it was nice to also meet your family! The benefits of this 33' Bertram web family continue to impress me! Brian '90 Bertram 33' FBC Never Say Never Westbrook, CT (Homeport) Kinnelon, NJ (Home)

George, Doug, Frank, Al, Gunny: Looks like the concensus is to postpone the rendevous at Johnson Boat works for a week or two. Doug and George: If the two of you still end up going - please feel free to climb on board my boat - if you want to take a peek. I'm not going to be able to be there after all, since I have a funeral to attend (a friend's mom passed away) on Saturday morning. I'll send out another note as soon as I determine that progress has been made on one or both boats to a point where folks may have more interest in getting together. Brian, It was really nice to meet you as well.It was really cool comparing the differences between an '81 and a '90 not major changes but a few.I am getting to meet some great people on this forum and hope to meet more.I would really like to get up north and see some of those cold water boats someday. I was down in RI Sat and ran into Brian. Apparantly, having the boat inside a heated shop makes the smallest project worth a trip since we were both mostly tinkering. I had big plans but was happy to get nothing done since they were in the midst of tearing my boat apart. Quite interesting to see someone hacking away at your boat with a sawzall - kind of like getting your teeth drilled. The mechanic got quite a laugh as we had to look in on him when we heard the saw ripping away. They are well under way on mine so I should have pictures of major progress next trip. I wanted to wait around to see them pull the old engines out but it was getting boring since there was nothing I could do while they were on the boat. Brian my have seen them come out since he was staying around. I asked them what the game plan looks like - "clean and repaint the bildge early next week and then drop em in". They are confident if nothing else making all this sound routine. That said, they were more than happy to explain the project and never made me feel like I should stay out of the way. They welcomed my questions and seemed to really appreciate our enthusiasm. Good guys that respect this as a big deal to me. Good start as I dont need an attitude while spending a fortune. They must have 15 engine jobs ready to go in that shop and 6 more waiting outside. Looks like he will do mine then move to Brians and then both are going outside to make room for others. Quite an operation.

George, I left at 6:30 when they were closing up shop. They said that you're engines were all set to pull out which they'll probably do first thing Monday. Don't worry, not much saw-all activity after you left! Brian '90 Bertram 33' FBC Never Say Never Westbrook, CT (Homeport) Kinnelon, NJ (Home)

Are they "sawsawling" the stb cabinets to make way for the new engines? If this is the case the counter top can be left in place. Only the cabinets and up to the refrigerator have to be removed. It is the only reason I can see the need for this in a FBC. Capt Rich Catch 22 1989 33 FBC

For quick removal prep, I think they were cutting through all the exhaust hoses instead of disconnecting. Interesting thing was they said the front engine mounts were loose, something worth double checking perhaps. Brian '90 Bertram 33' FBC Never Say Never Westbrook, CT (Homeport) Kinnelon, NJ (Home)

Brian, I just left you a voice mail on your cell. Bill, Frank, and I were planning on taking a ride down there this Sat (Feb 11th). Will you be around? George, What about you? Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth Marblehead, MA
