Engine Replacements for 1977 Bertram
Damn! What a nice Christmas present! I am sorry.. you are really up to your ass in alligators! I had a similar problem a few years ago with my rental house in Beverly when a tenant plugged up the sewer line going to the street, and everything backed up into the cellar through the washing machine drainpipe.. I personally cleaned up the mess.. sacrificed a pair of good boat boots and a good wet/dry vacuum and (hate to say this) just spread the stuff in the back yard when nobody was looking! The grass grew like crazy the next year! Bought about 8 gallons of Clorox and saturated every surface with it. Had a company come in and dig up the pipe.. when they arrived they asked who cleaned up the mess? I said I did.. they said I was the first homeowner who they ever had who cleaned up before they arrived! Anyway.. keep me posted.. I will be seeing DeMann after the first and will let him know what is going on. Good luck and hope things get settled soon! Frank B - IRGuy@aol.com "Phoenix" 1983 FBC Wilmington, NC

It actually is based on the chevy dura max diesel. The beauty if it is if you do not have counter rotating engines. This will supposedly hook up to the tranny you currently have. The other beautiful thing is there is once again supposedly no motor mount re doing etc. They run 16500 for the 310 HP which according to the guy I spoke with should push the boat to a 22-23 knot cruise. Seems like a very worthwhile consideration. You can search max power and find a few websites about them. quote:Originally posted by dougl33 Rich, Not sure I'm familar with that brand. OK. I had a feeling that's what you were talking about. Don't walk, but run away from these engines. A friend of mine was a distributor for them for a very short while (less than 6 months). Crappy product with crappy results. These are not viable options for the boats and resale would suffer horrifically if these were installed in your boat.
