I wish she had left more of the safety aspect in. As it is, it comes out as "POOR AL" he has to change his tank. Nothing about 265 gallons of gas leaking out into the bilge & getting pumped out into the marina. I repeatedly tried to bring that out & the negative environmental aspects. Al, If I had to guess, I'd say that without anyone to substantiate your claims that the tank would fall apart, they had to take the low road on that. The Boat US guy wasn't much help on that. Hopefully more people will have questions as time goes on and they'll do a follow up. You never know, maybe there won't be much of a problem? In the mean time, just avoid using the 10% ethanol gas.

Doug yoy mentioned lets avoid the ethanol. Do you know of any place in the boston area to buy non ethanol?

Bob, You can buy last year's gas at East Marine in Falmouth until June 1st for $2.99/Gal. They claim that by law, all marina's (in Mass) have to be pumping ethanol by the June 1st deadline.....East Marine thinks they might have just enough to last until then. You might have to buy 89 instead of 87, but they maintain that they're going to pump the MTBE until it's gone. All, I finally got around to checking the mfg. date on my tank. First line on the label is Mfg. date. Of course the date is chipped off so I can get the info. Also the gal. and dimentions of the tank are on there too. I could only get one dimention and the gal. (315) off it. It does have a Model # on it though. Maybe with enough of us we can get the dimentions and price out what it would cost to build new tanks if it comes to that. Gene Dugan

E85 = 1 less Boater. I'll have to move to Venez. and see Hugo, or maybe Panama. I can probably find a Bayliner hull cheap. Ms. Congresswoman obviously is on some oil company's payroll. Gene Dugan

Just an FYI, with Franks help this weekend we siphoned out about 65 gallons of ethanol laced fuel out of the tank. I figured it would be better to be empty for the winter lay up(who the hell really knows!). The gas that came out had no water, looked and smelled fresh. From what I could see with a flashlight, the inside of the tank looked very clean with no varnish, black spots, or large amounts of debris laying on the bottom. It was worth the effort just to get an idea of whats going on inside there. As of right now, it looks like things are fine. Knock on wood! Bill 33 FBC Ipswich, Ma. Bill, What did you find when you changed filters? Did you get the Coke-Cola looking stuff that people are reporting?
