Question re: Differences between models
You guys are WIMPS. My house has been torn apart for 30 years. The 1st time I brought Callie to my house I had to warn her that I didn't have any walls. What is supposed to be my living room was my workshop last year when I gutted out the NITES OFF interior. Brought the panels home for all my sanding & painting. Must admit there was a bit of squawking about the smell from the paint & the contact cement that I used for the new galley countertop. I suppose that ONE of these years I really should finish off the house. Al 1978 33 FBC NITES OFF

Thanks all for taking the time to share your thoughts with me..(I am saying thank you a lot here). To be clear.. with 500 hrs on the 1999 Cummins engines, and with the 500 hour service having recently been performed by a Cummins service tech, I am assuming that the engines are in good shape. The broker says the hull should be sound, and the problems with the boat are cosmetic and visible. (Although I did see some crappy terminal strips). I know the broker is trying hard to sell the boat, and the owner seems to be begging for an offer before he closes the boat up for the winter, and I know they both have a mission to sell the boat.. and so far nobody in this equation is representing me. So.. I am not taking anyone's word as gospel on anything at this time. Before I would commit to anything I would have both the hull and engines surveyed. I realize the surveys might (make that probably will) turn up some negatives.. but at this point in my search I am assuming the cosmetic work is doable by me over time. I am not afraid of this type of work, and I can do it.. and have before on smaller boats. I need to take another personal look at the boat, much closer than my first look, and perhaps even go out in it before moving much further down the road. I have a friend (next door neighbor) who is a broker here and he has told me what he thinks the boat is worth based on what I have told him so far, and it seems possible for me financially, so I will proceed, with ons hand holding tight onto my wallet. I do have some other questions to present here, which I will do soon. I am glad I found you guys.. (do any women own Bertrams?).

Actually, in some recent research I did on documented Bertram 33s, I found a surprising number of them listed a female as the owner. I won't bust those of you on here that fall into that category, but you know who you are. Suffice it to say that Al was not one of them! Sorry. I didn't say where they were. They are under the Articles section. Or you can click on one of these guys: 33 FBC Guide 33 SF Guide By the way, the whole reason I created this site was because at one time, I was like you, and answers were mighty hard to come by.
