What to use?
I've been using Hydrocoat SR for the past two seasons. In the fall after power washing it looks like it did in the spring when launched. I wouldn't say the SR prevents slime, rather it prevents it from sticking. Goes on easy, low odor and doesn't seem to cause build up. Also not very chalky when dry. I'm sticking with it.

Put a couple feelers out there for a blasting job around my area and was given a $1600-2000 estimate. Seems the local guys charge $200 an hour which includes blasting media and labor. From reading the posts above it seems that everyone is using an ablative paint to prevent further buildup after blasting? I've been using Trinidad SR since it is what was on the boat when I bought it but am considering switching over to an ablative after I have it taken back down to gel coat or barrier coat (if I find it underneath all the paint). Anyone else using a non-ablative?
I've been using the Trinidad SR Pro for years in South FL with never a barnacle after 2 years. Curious to see how it handles NC now. I soda basted about 10 years ago then 2 coats of InterProtect. Initially went with Vivid which did OK, but the waterline discolored too quickly for my liking. If the Trinidad holds up here, I'm never switching to an ablative.
