HI Matt, Welcome to Charlestown. I do keep my boat a Shipyard Quarters Marina. Please stop by, I am rarely from there. I keep my boat in year round. I'll be moving to Pier 8 for the winter in mid November, but right where you saw me on Pier 6 until then. I'd be happy to provide some local knowledge on the area (land and sea) and the pro's and cons (in my humble opinion) of the marina situation in the area. I think you will enjoy boating here. Well, it looks like I am going to make the trip this weekend. The plan is to leave New London early Saturday AM and head to Oak Bluffs Marina on Martha's Vineyard to spend the night there. We will leave Oak Bluffs Sunday morning and go through Woods Hole into Buzzards Bay for the canal. Unfortunately I will be fighting the current the whole way, but it will make for a nice final run of the season. The boat will be staying at Admirals Hill Marina over the winter and then we are looking at Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina. Thanks for the info. Looking forward to boating in the Boston area!

Great. Perhaps we should talk before you sign up at SQM. I've been there since it opened over 20 years ago, but I don't know how much longer it will last. It's the kind of place that one has to consider one's expectations from a marina. One thing for sure, the location is great, especially if you live in the Navy Yard or nearby. Have a great trip.

Sorry, wrong Marina. Boston Shipyard is a a good place, but not from a land based location for me. Otherwise, I'd be there!

Made the final leg of the trip yesterday afternoon. It was a long one but a nice way to send off the summer season. We had a great time in Oak Bluffs and was great to meet Brian. The boat is not in Admirals Hill Marina and will start the winterizing next weekend. Thanks for all the advice. Hopefully I will be able to meet up with some more people from the Boston area!

Welcome to Boston Harbor, Matt. I'll swing by the Ad Hill in my center console to check out your boat, Rick, I've been killing the cod the last few weeks, but I've been traveling out to just east of the Bank. 10 -15 fish in the 30 - 39" range each trip. Just jigs, and no dogs. Worth the run out!
