Hi Rick, Welcome, this site is super! (Thanks David) I'm envious of your oil burners! That thing must really haul ass. I'd love to see some pictures of your engines & how they fit. Good luck with your new boat. You will not be disappointed. Gerard Amrhein FREEDOM 86 SF 454 Merc Green Pond, Falmouth

Gerard, I always like to see the pictures posted by others so I will be glad to add pictures. I need to read the upload instructions. Will not be on the boat this weekend but will try to find some pictures on file or take some more when I get to the boat. Thanks to all for the warm welcome. Rick

Doug, So far all indications are the 38 is going to treat me real well. The more I get into it the more I like it. It seems pretty much like a 33 FBC with just a tad more cockpit. Cruise looks like it will be around 20 knots with the 300 hp Cats. But I will confirm that after running the boat a bit more. So far the short trips I have used it for are really short. I live one canal away from Gene (Nauti Marie), which puts me about one or two miles of no wake zone away from the inlet and we begin trolling or drifting baits as soon as we are outside of the inlet. The only times I have run it up is to blow out a bit of carbon after trolling at idle just before getting back to the inlet. I am spending most of my time working on it in anticipation of having it ready for sailfish this winter and the Bahamas this spring. I have been installing a livewell, tweaking the electronics, rod holders, bottom job, props, canvas, etc. I will let you know when I get some realistic cruise numbers. The engines seem to be in particularly fine condition considering they don’t get a lot of stress at those hp ratings. I believe whatever the cruise numbers are will be just fine for my needs. Runs around here are real short as mentioned above and as for going to the islands, I will prefer range over speed. If I can get there and back without buying Bahamian fuel, I will consider that a big plus. Regards, Robert quote:Originally posted by dougl33 Robert, How's the 38 treating you? What kind of cruise are you getting. You have the 300hp Cats correct?
