I would avoid shipping if you can. If I was going to keep my boat forever, it would have been worth it, as I ended up with a clean boat that was dry stored indoors. As I am selling it now, there is no way I will get the extra $$ back. It was around $15K when all was said and done and that is a pretty big percentage of the purchase price for a B35'. I have limited my search to the west coast and intend to drive my next boat home to Oregon. I may be turning my back on Bertram though, as the 1990s vintage 45' Viking has really caught my eye. Good luck with the boat hunt and make sure you read David Pascoe's book before you pull the trigger. Mike C

Mike, My brother has an 89 45 Vike with the 6-71 TIBs (485hp). While I'm not a big fan of those engines, he bought the boat with only got 100 hours on re-builds. Nice rig and feels like an ocean liner when compared to my 33.

I agree, that 45' Viking is a nice boat and 550's became available in 1990 and forward. Brian '90 Bertram 33' FBC Yanmar 370's Never Say Never Guilford, CT (Homeport) Kinnelon, NJ (Home)

Dougl33, Any idea what his fuel burn is? If he doesn't mind wasting some time talking about boats, shoot me his contact info at mike@colbachlaw.com Mike

I think he figured it was around 30 gph at 20-21 knots. Seems a little on the low side to me, but he's been tracking it all season. He may be including his idle time in that figure. I think the boat tops out at 25-26 knots. He's not the most internet savy guy, so I doubt he'd reply to your email, but I'll pass it on.

For what it's worth, my 1981 35' with factory cat 300T's has single struts. I still have the original paperwork and the motors are original. Scott.
