Rick, what kind of problems do you have? Tim, at this time you cannot empty a holding via the Electrasan. Raritan is about to introduce a unit that will allow that. I believe list will be about $400. Al, I've had 'em all. Control Board(s), Control Switches, Low treatment and so on. Right now problem is "Low Treatment" indicator. But when I first winterized my boat the mechanic showed me how to winterize it.......by filling it with anti-freeze!! It's supposed to have nothing thrown down and be completely pumped which is what I do now. So I went through several cleanings and it's been working, but I still get low treatment indicators. Raritan thinks they can fix it easy enough, but I know it won't the last time. This new "Hold n Treat" system still requires the installation of a holding tank, but maybe you can get away with a smaller one going that route. I'm thinking that we wouldn't want to try and fit anything much bigger than a 15 gallon ?

I have the lectra/san on my boat. Down in hatteras I had no problems with low treatment but up here in jersey, back in the lagoon it is constant. I put a 2 gal salt tank in line with the water intake so that when it is operated it draws the salt solution into the unit to allow it to break down all that ugly stuff. NEVER PUT ANTI FREEZE IN. That is a no-no. You flush it about 10 times, being careful not to burn up the motors, disconnect the inlet water, flush to empty the toilet then empty the tank. Worst part of the whole thing. Stu

I talked to raritan today.They told me that the hold and treat is great if you spend alot of time in a no dump zone.However if you are only occasionally in a no dump zone then the best way is to go through the lectra san into a holding tank ,that way you are holding treated waste instead of vice versa with the hold and treat.Easy to hook up too.just put a y valve in between the discharge outlet and the holding tank.you can then either install a discharge pump or just have a manual deck plate pump out.The one drawback i see is that if the lectra san breaks or loses power you are in trouble. I think that Al is saying that you hook it up so that the Lecrasan pumps into holding tank. You could also put a Y valve between discharge of the toilet and flush to either Lecrasan or holding tank, which I believe is 100% legal. But where would one install the holding tank ? Does anyone have pictures of an existing one ? The stringers down there don't give you a lot of room for installation of anything except way forward of Lecrasan. I removed my broken generator and my transom already sits high, so much that if I'm low on fuel, the cockpit won't drain. Maybe installing the tank where the generator was wouldn't be a bad idea ?

The Holding tank on my 33 FBC is in the cellar. right under the steps leading down to the head and fwd. cabin area. It sits on top of the stringers. The fittings for the mascerator, and dockside pump out are facing back at the bottom of the tank, and "incoming" at the top. I can pull the whole thing out in 10 min. or fix anything in place. In my old boat I had to actually cut a hole in the head wall to get at the holding tank. So Bertram designed this one very well. E.W. Dugan

I ripped that POS lectra san unit out of my 35B almost as soon I took position. They are stinky polluting POS that should be outlawed. Are we supposed to believe that everyone that has a lectra san unit keeps it running correctly? I believe everyone should have to hold and pump out or if you run offshore like I do just pump her out once you are offshore. Just my 2 cents Charlie
